Collection: Kiln Dried Hornbeam Firewood

We are Woodsure Ready to Burn certified. A company must have a maximum of 20% moisture content to meet WoodSure standards.
Well Seasoned Wood has an average moisture content of 6.32%, far less than half the moisture content criteria required!

Hornbeam is known for being a long lasting firewood while sporting a hot flame. Due to its density, Hornbeam is an efficient and slow burner, while still producing a high temperature. They can be used for woodburners, fire pits, and pizza ovens. Hornbeam glows with a bright yellow flame when lit, slow burning with little to no smell. It will burn for longer than typical hardwoods, such as Ash, Birch and Alder logs.

Delivered in crates only. Depending on access, crates can be delivered nearer using tail lift and pallet truck but not over soft ground (grass, gravel, soil) tall curbs or steep inclines.

There are compelling reasons why we only sell kiln dried hardwoods - Beech, Oak and Hornbeam.
We have created a graph to explain these reasons – this can be found here.

FAQ

Hopefully this FAQ will answer any questions you may have around Hornbeam firewood. If not, please feel free to call us on
07751 929 293 or drop us an email deliveries@wellseasonedwood.com and we will be happy to help.

Why Hornbeam firewood?

Hornbeam firewood produces consistent heat and a low flame,
so you won't need to tend to the fire as often as you would
with other species. It is low maintenance, burns slowly and
creates high heat output, making it a highly efficient combustible fuel.
Hornbeam has a high BTU score of 27.3. (Heat per Cord - Million BTUs).
Many “good” firewood types have a BTU of just 18 to 20, making
Hornbeam firewood a great choice.

How much Hornbeam firewood do I need to purchase?

There are many factors to consider when trying to figure out ‘how much’ you
will need, such as your space available, how often you use your woodburner,
what type of woodburner you use, when it was last swept etc. We would
recommend getting the amount you need based on your space. We have
different quantities and types of packaged logs to give you plenty of options
for storing it. If you have an outdoor woodstore or a garage, then we would
recommend getting a crate. If you aren’t sure, then just give us a call at our
Bristol firewood offices and we can help! Tel. 07751 929 293

Help! I won’t be in when you deliver.

No worries at all. As long as you let us know when you have sent you your
delivery time slot then we can either re-arrange getting your firewood
delivered or you can let us know a safe place to leave your order.

I have booked a chimney sweep in Bristol with you.
Can you deliver firewood for sale at the same time?

We often deliver fire wood in Bristol at the same time we do chimney
sweeping. Just let us know at least a day in advance and we can get this
sorted for you. Please note we can only deliver firewood in nets or one
dumpy maximum per chimney sweep. We cannot fit a crate or more than
one dumpy bag in our electric van.

Does Hornbeam firewood smell or produce a lot of smoke?

Hornbeam gives off little to no smell.
Not much smoke is produced when burning. Hornbeam
produces excellent embers which distribute heat over time.

Can I combine Beech with Hornbeam?

Our Bristol kiln dried logs Beech and Hornbeam work very well when combined
together! However, Hornbeam is an easy firewood to get going, so
Hornbeam will work well together with other firewoods or on its own.

Do I need kindling and/or firelighters?

We would recommend getting kindling and firelighters.
Our kindling is extremely dry, which will allow the
flame to take to the wood rapidly. The firelighters are wood wool
shavings dipped in wax. They are totally natural, allowing for no horrible
smells and will burn for up to 15 minutes.

Can I pick up firewood in Bristol, rather than get a delivery?

Yes, we are one of Bristol's leading firewood suppliers - you can either order our
firewood online for delivery across the UK, or for those of you looking for logs
for sale in Bristol, we offer a pick up option for our fire wood with cheaper prices!

How long will it take to receive my Bristol firewood delivery?

If you are within our Bristol firewood delivery radius and looking for logs for
sale, then it should take no more than 3 working days. In our peak season it
can take up to 5 working days. If you are outside of our firewood in Bristol
delivery zone, then we will send your order out via courier, and it will take

and we will do our best to accommodate. We do not deliver on weekends.
